Included below are a number of short sections with links to outside
resources on the internet that can hopefully make the time you spend
contributing to abpo more rewarding.
Netiquette - Generally Expected Behavior and Communication in a Text Only Environment
Things are very different in a text only environment. There are no cues of vocal
intonation or body language to help you decipher what someone's text means. Sometimes
tempers flare, people get upset, and they end up saying hurtful things that no one
involved ever purposefully intended to say. Sometime people use strange acronyms or use
words in fashions that do not make sense.
A quality newsfeed can change the quality of your Usenet experience. The following
links are intended to provide a starting place for exploring option in that regard.
It should be noted that not all ISPs have poor quality newsfeeds. Some ISPs
outsource their NNTP service to premium providers and provide good quality. Some
large ISPs have terrible newsfeeds. Caveat Emptor
The ownership of images is something of concern to many photographers
and is of concern on Usenet too. The following links are intended to
provide some basic starting points for exploring the topic. No legal
advice will be given on the matter here.

Criticism
ABPO is a friendly place, but I am looking for more critical commentary. What
photography websites would you recommend to people looking for more critical commentary?
One option is to solicit criticism directly in the group. Just remember to be
careful what you ask for. :-)
The oldest and largest such site. www.photo.net is a very "professional"
oriented site. For it's intensity, it seems to not have any major attitudes or egos.....
PhotoSig is a good site and uses a point system which encourages
members to post useful critiques. Even with that, most comments fall into
the "I like your photo now please come and look at mine" category.
