A special thanks should be given to Vaughn for handling this in the past. We all wish him well as he moves forward and takes on other challenges in pursuit of a education.

As we move forward, thanks goes out to Frank Grimm for suggesting the current challenge on patriotism. The choice has been made to cut the period of this challenge a touch short to try and have new challenges released upon a Thursday or a Friday.

The main point of the challenge is to help you creatively in your photography by having a new idea in the back of your mind as you see the world. There are only winners in this challenge as it is not a contest to win or lose, but it is simply a way of giving your creativity a boost.

2. The purpose of the Challenge is to get those creative juices flowing and shoot something new specifically for posting to this newsgroup. If you have previous pictures that fall within this topic, please feel free to share with the rest of the group, BUT... get out there and shoot something new.

3. Anyone can participate! If you shot it, and it fits the category, lets see it!

4. When posting pictures for the Challenge, please begin the subject line with the word "Challenge_________." Then fill in the blank with the current topic and either the filename or a description that is specific to your photo.

5. Topics will be posted every other Saturday and will run for a two week period of time. Giving advance notice of the next topic is not recommended. This serves a dual purpose: to avoid pre-posting and to force the photographer to "start fresh." This also allows working amateur photographers two weekends to shoot and will give film photographers time to process, scan and post their work.

6. If you have pictures that are from previous challenges, please post them, just don't forget to designate the topic in the subject line. This will help avoid any confusion.

7. If you're wondering if your picture fits the topic, just refer to the description paragraph above. If in doubt, post it anyway. If you have an different interpretation of the topic, by all means, don't be afraid to share.

An unexpected twist to the theme is always welcome!

8. I will personally invite someone to choose the next topic at the end of the two week period. When you get the invite, just post the topic using the previous postings as an example of the format. I will update this page to reflect the current topics as we go.
