Manipulating Images

At times various contributors to abpo have posted suggest variations on processing an image as feedback to the initial poster. These pictures are posted in their originally posted form and as modified by other posters. General descriptions of the modification process have been included with each variation. The idea is to allow others to learn how editing their images can change the visual impact they have.

An attempt has been made to keep the editing instructions generic rather than specific to a particular editing program, although some of the directions will clearly be related directly to one program or another.

Click on a picture to view the suggested modifications and directions offered by other posters.

It should be noted that photo editing is very subjective and peoples tastes differ. As has often been said, beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder. Some people may not agree that the changes make the photos better.

This web page contains pictures taken from the Usenet newsgroup alt.binaries.photos.original. The pictures on this page are reprinted with permission of the artists. Artist's names are listed beside the pictures.
